At around 68 metres, Frankfurt airport's new highlight is higher than the tower: Alpha Rotex. The high-rise in the new Airport City district of Gateway Gardens has a leasable area of around 23,000 m² and will be DB Schenker's new headquarters.
The building plan forms a triangle with rounded corners – the wings of the building rotate around the core. The building's 16 floors are reached by means of six high-speed elevators. The façade comprises ribbons of aluminium and glass.
JORDAHL provided the JTA anchor channels to allow the glass façade and the elevators to be installed. The clients hope to achieve the American LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) award in gold.
