A complex glazed façade, highest quality building services engineering and a prominent location: the Metropolitan office complex directly adjacent to the national theatre in Pilsudski Square in Warsaw is regarded as one of the most ambitious projects of its kind.
Britain's Sir Norman Foster, who worked together with Warsaw architects, is responsible for the Metropolitan's design. Three building units are situated on the structure's pentagonal plan, all autonomous from an engineering perspective and regarded as trailblazing in terms of their design. Retailers and catering establishments are located on the ground floors; the six respective upper floors provide office space for companies from around the world. There are around 400 parking lots on two underground floors.
The glass facing façade of the Metropolitan was initially supplemented by vertically arranged granite elements, referred to colloquially as razor blades. In 2006 the granite was replaced by concrete elements. The building complex, with a volume of around 240,000 cubic metres, was awarded Best Office Building in 2004 during the international real estate fair MIPIM in Cannes.
JORDAHL GmbH provided JORDAHL® JDSD double shear connectors, and JORDAHL® JTA anchor channel and JORDAHL® JXA serrated anchor channel fixing systems for the Metropolitan Office Building.
