The “Leidsche Rijn Centrum” becomes the new, second city centre for living, working or shopping in Utrecht. In a Mediterranean atmosphere with boulevards and promenades, “Leidsche Rijn Centrum” will be the beating heart of the district. Besides several shops, a 5,600 sq m large food market and pick-up points, there will also be cozy squares with terraces, coffee shops and restaurants. A hospital, hotel, large cinema, library and other cultural facilities will be just around the corner. In addition to the retails spaces, there will also be 750 apartments built including 700 private and 1,300 public parking spaces.

The whole project was planned with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method from the planning phase to implementation. The construction process was digitalised as far as possible: from 3D simulation, to design, to data exchange (with IFC files) of all parties involved. In doing so, several subject-specific models with JORDAHL products were temporarily put together with coordination models with products of other suppliers. Because of many years of experience with BIM models, our subsidiary JORDAHL H-BAU Netherlands could reliably realise the BIM planning of the façades in their subject-specific model.
